In striving to align with Skate Canada’s LTD model, while also advancing our Strategic Plan to bolster the development of our stakeholders, Athlete Development Committee has introduced the Prospects Program.
How It Works
Athletes register and pay a subsidized fee per opportunity. These opportunities encompass two training sessions with guest coaches, workshops, and skill-building opportunities. Each year, we expand our ice bookings based on the waiting list from the previous year, aiming to accommodate all interested participants. While we encourage athletes to attend the sessions they register for, we understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise. In such cases, if we can fill the spot from our waitlist, athletes will receive a full refund.
Inclusivity and Accessibility
We prioritize inclusivity and accessibility by welcoming skaters of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels, beginning at the STAR 2 level.
Subsidization and Support
Skate Saskatchewan's subsidy of the program underscores our commitment to athlete development. By providing affordable opportunities, we aim to facilitate the growth and development of athletes and coaches alike. This support enables participants to access high-quality training experiences and fosters a sense of community within the skating ecosystem.
Alignment with Team Saskatchewan
The opportunities within the Prospects Program are designed to parallel the training experiences of our Team Saskatchewan members, offering a non-threatening introduction to the Podium Pathway. Whether participants aspire to pursue the Podium Pathway or opt for the STAR pathway, the program caters to their individual goals and aspirations.
Monitoring and Professional Development
Skate Saskatchewan's High-Performance Director and Program Coordinator actively monitor participants' progress and collaborate with coaches to offer support and guidance. By joining their skaters on the ice at training days, coaches access opportunities to enhance their professional skills through networking and collaboration with our on-ice facilitators and Program Coordinator, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the skating community. There is no charge for coaches to attend.
